In February 2019 the Office of Responsible Gambling sought applications from a wide range of groups and individuals such as community groups, venues, Liquor Accords, commercial organisations and individuals for Activate Sydney@Night Grants.
Applicants were able to apply for funding of $500,000 for one-off unique ideas that encourage a vibrant night-time-economy in the seven key precincts of Darlinghurst, Haymarket and George Street, Opera House to Walsh Bay, Pyrmont, Newtown, Liverpool and Parramatta. Projects and initiatives are to run at night – defined as between 6.00 pm and 6.00 am – and be based in one of the night-time economy precincts.
- Grants of up to $100,000 per application were available for projects to help activate a vibrant, diverse and dynamic night time economy for the benefit of the local community and visitors
- Funding was available to expand existing initiatives or seed funding for new initiatives to support the night-time-economy such as cultural or street-fairs, support for permanent or pop up venue spaces, or coordinated programming of music, arts and entertainment
- Funding was available for one-off events as well as a series of events delivered within 12 months of the receipt of funds
Activate Sydney@Night Grants were funded by the Community Development Fund.
