The NSW Gambling Survey 2019 highlighted that people who speak a language other than English at home have an increased risk of gambling harm.
Feedback from gambling counsellors who primarily work with culturally diverse clients, is that their clients’ cultural differences and language barriers contribute to their initial reluctance to access support as well as their confusion about where to access it.
This resource provides an overview of things to consider when working with clients from culturally diverse backgrounds to ensure that the support provided is culturally responsive.
